Learning data science and analytic is not easy!

It will take a lot of work, a lot of energy, and a lot of time from you.

I learnt data science and analytics practices on the job. (I was fortunate enough to be able to take an unpaid internship where I had real data analyst tasks and, well, great mentors, too!) I’ve been working as a data scientist/analyst and I can tell you that data analysis is a very, very practical job.

On the other hand: I went to university. I was reading books and blogs. I was taking online courses... and I saw that most of the learning materials out there regarding data science and analytics are purely theoretical.

Not what I was looking for!

I won’t go on another rant about university education or the online schools that give you only the illusion of data science and analysis knowledge. And I won’t talk about those “zero to hero with data science or analysis in 1 week” kinds of courses either... I’ve talked about them enough in my newsletters anyway.

So let me put it this way:

My #1 goal at Data450 is to provide you with practical, true-to-life, and hands-on data science and analytic education. That’s the reason why I push you in most of my tutorials to set up your own data server, work with real data sets, create your own automation, experience the pain of data cleaning, write your own scripts from scratch, and think about the business value of your analyses, and so on… Because these are things that you will have to do in real life, as well.

Learning data science and analysis is not easy. If you can’t accept this fact, then maybe Data450 and my learning materials are not the best choices for you. But if you are okay with learning data science and analytics the hard way, this learning period of a few months will be one of your best long-term investments.
